Free Food Van at the Bushfires Disaster Relief Centres
During the Dec 2019 – Jan 2020 bushfire disaster our team of Sikh Volunteers Australia travelled to designated relief area and evacuation centres to assist with food, ration and emotional support to those affected by the fires. It was an emotional experience seeing fellow Australian losing so much to the devastating fires. Properties, homes, personal belongings and farm animals which were lost in a number of days by so many people.
The Sikh volunteers worked closely with emergency services and the local authorities over a period of 15 days at the Bairnsdale Oval Relief Centre, our team was supporting in providing warm food, water and essentials. we were given the all clear to lift up our camp from Bairnsdale on 14 Jan 2020 after consulting with local authorities.
During this period of 15 days we are overwhelmed with love , affection and gratitude from people of East Gippsland and surrounding area. This service had etched life long memories in the heart of our volunteers and with great humility we thank everyone who have given us the opportunity to serve humanity.
We wish a fast and quick recovery of flora and fauna to the bushfire effected areas and will definitely come visit our new friends again in good times.
