It is with pleasure and great humility that we announce that Sikh Volunteers Australia received “The Sikh Award 2020 (International)” in the “Sikhs in Charity Award” category. Our representative Mr Jaswinder Singh was at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai, UAE to collect the award. This award recognises our organisation’s contributions and volunteer work in Victoria, Australia.
The Sikhs in Charity Award is presented to an individual, organisation, or society, which can best demonstrate that it has the community at heart and has had a positive impact whilst improving the health and wellbeing of society.
Sikh Volunteers Australia is a non-profit volunteer organisation focusing on reducing distress in the community by providing FREE FOOD to disadvantaged and needy individuals / families. Our Free Food Van and Free Take-Away Food Kitchen help in supporting our objectives. We were also recognised in Australia for our support work in providing free food and drinking water to communities affected by the Australian bushfires in January 2020.
The Sikh Awards 2020 ceremony was held on 21 Feb 2020 at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai (UAE). It was a night of celebration for all, the presentations were carried out at a glittering and star-studded ceremony, beginning with a mocktail reception followed by a delightful four course vegetarian banquet together. Guests from across the world attended including UK, India, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia.
The Sikh Awards recognises the pivotal contributions made by the Sikh community across a variety of fields, from business, charity, education, entertainment, professional services, selfless service and sport, with winners selected across the globe from Asia, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
