On September 29, 2024, as part of Sikh Volunteers Australia’s 10th anniversary year, SVA proudly inaugurated its new kitchen facility and mobile kitchen truck! This has become possible with the blessings of Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji,
Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, who make everything possible. Also, thank you to the Federal Government of Australia and the State Government of Victoria for investing in this project.
We were honoured to have Federal MPs Asst Minister Hon Julian Hill MP, Jodie Belyea MP, Cassandra Fernando MP, Hon Jason Wood MP, and Victorian State MPs Paul Mercurio MP(representing the Minister for Carers and Volunteers), Pauline Richards MP, Jordan Crugnale MP, Lee Tarlamis MP, Renee Heath MP, Ann-Marie Hermans MP, and Mayors Councillor Simon Brooks (Mornington Peninsula Shire) and Cr Nathan Conroy (Frankston City Council) join us.
A heartfelt thanks to Bwe Thay(Deputy Chairperson VMC), Victoria Police Multicultural Liaison Division, Victoria Police Academy Community Encounter Team, Malvina Tsecoutanis (Community Resilience Coordinator – NW Metro SES), SES Narre Warren Unit, SES Heidelberg Unit, Ambulance Victoria Representatives, and our special guests from CFA and FRV. Having SVA’s volunteers and our local community members present was also wonderful.
Our new kitchen facility has state-of-the-art commercial cooking equipment and adheres to COVID-safe guidelines, ensuring safe operations with distancing, minimal gathering, and low-contact protocols. Our new mobile kitchen truck will allow SVA to swiftly reach disaster-impacted areas, setting up safe cooking facilities at ground zero to serve affected communities and significantly expand our service reach.
Thank you to everyone who made this event a resounding success. We look forward to continuing to serve the community.
